Why is the topic of this talk still important?

Multilingual online business presence is still crucial and valuable to be established. According to the research company Common Sense Advisory (CSA), in 2017 there were as many as 139 different languages present in the online world. These provide economic opportunity and a large audience, which has increased from 129 languages from the previous year. Still, multilingual software and the ability to communicate the brand messages online in the native language of the target audience, is important for businesses and services that operate online. One of the important phases in multilingual software is text translation, which is the topic of this presentation.

What are the key learnings goals of this talk?

Providing the translating experts with some context of your projects can benefit in terms of lowering language translation costs and increasing time efficiencies. That is why we always provide more context for the related reference materials. Everyone in the team contributes to this process by providing the application specification, style guides, marketing materials, even giving the translation experts a full access to the application. However, these standard practices often can be slow and cumbersome. The motivation behind this talk is to share how testers can be involved to support and at the end speed this process up.

What can you expect in this talk?

You will experience many examples where you shall not only feel how the content is used, but also the context of that content. It is a quest to provide better context in the translation process, involving testers’ knowledge to fulfill this mission.
