Swiss Testing Night Recap and What’s Next on the Agenda

Written by Nadia Volpe

What went on at Swiss Testing Night? And what’s coming next?

Last Thursday, die Mobiliar greeted our community of software enthusiasts for Swiss Testing Night. From near and far, attendees had the great opportunity to dive into industry trends with experts, share knowledge and forge new connections, ahead of Swiss Testing Day

What makes dedicated events like Swiss Testing Night so special is bringing together like-minded people who share the same passions and drive, in an open, collaborative space. Exploring the latest testing practices, learning from experienced speakers, or just getting to know one another better over a drink; it’s the kind of event that leaves you inspired and ready to learn more.

‘Continuous deployment in practice’

Torsten Welp, die Mobiliar

Don’t be fooled into thinking Continuous Deployment (CD) is just a buzzword. It’s a transformative approach that’s changing the way we develop software. In his engaging session, Torsten Welp, explored how CD isn’t just a concept, but rather the future of software delivery.

By automating code deployment and minimising manual intervention, teams can deliver faster without sacrificing quality. The secret ingredient? Efficiency. Adapting testing strategies to dramatically reduce execution times, with the goal of under an hour, ensures that releases are quick without sacrificing quality.

Pro Tip: Flexibility is the name of the game. Whether you’re wearing a single hat or juggling multiple roles, embracing agile practices and automation is highly important.

How can software quality be evaluated professionally and objectively?’

Benno Hübscher, Sieber & Partners

In the second talk, Benno Hübscher tackled a crucial question: How can software quality be evaluated objectively? His solution? Static code analysis.

By systematically running and visualising the results of these analyses, teams gain deeper insights into security, maintainability, and other key metrics. Dashboards provide transparency, making it clear where improvements are needed and ensuring stability in the long run.

Key Insight: Visibility into your codebase isn’t just a luxury – it’s a necessity. Regular quality assessments not only prevent technical debt but also prepare teams for modernisation.

Key points we took away

  • Flexibility Reigns Supreme: Agile workflows, the DevOps revolution, and cutting-edge automation tools are redefining roles, breaking silos, and empowering teams to adapt and thrive in an ever-evolving landscape.
  • Visibility is the Power Play: With tools like static code analysis and real-time dashboards, teams gain unparalleled transparency, enabling sharper collaboration, stronger security, and laser-focused improvements.
