When AI Gets It Wrong (and How Testers Make It Right) Real Stories and Test Strategies for the Age

AI systems are now writing tests, suggesting fixes, and offering decisions. They do it with confidence but they are far from perfect. In this session, I’ll show real cases where AI made convincing but wrong outputs: biased predictions, insecure code suggestions, hallucinated data.
We’ll explore how three cognitive traps, automation bias, error anchoring, and false fluency , mislead testers when AI is involved. More importantly, we’ll talk about how testers can catch those errors, enforce fairness, and guide AI with human insight.
You’ll walk away with methods to validate AI’s work (for bias, explainability, correctness), guard against overtrust, and integrate human oversight in automated pipelines. Because when AI gets it wrong, it’s the tester’s judgment that keeps quality and trust intact.
